The Mattress Village Airport Incident or Mattress Village v. the Liberal Aviators as quoted by many commentators was a controversial incident at Dan Beronews Regional Airport, following the demolition and bulldozing of the airport's main runway, due in part to the village's lack of construction materials, most notably asphalt. The computer systems, radars and weather systems from the 25 ft. high air traffic control tower was stolen, which is rumoured to be used for wiretapping. As a result, a litigation between the National Airports Authority, the Federal Antarctic Aviation Administration and SkyJet Aviation Holdings. Afterr the runway was demolished, a SkyJet Flyer Pontrier Dash 8 Q400 was heavily damaged after the runway's asphalt was removed, thus allowing the aircraft to slide during rainy conditions, and overran the runway into a ditch as a result. Mattress Village was sued for 2.5 million Fish to replace the runway and stolen computers.

Events

October 5, 2010

On October 5, 2010, 760 feet of the runway's north end was demolished.The runway safety zones and two of the taxiways leading to the northern end of the runway all disappeared. The incident was recorded from a CCTV camera located on a near-by hangar. It shows a number of dark-clothed penguins using pick-axes to destroy the runway. The runway lights were not stolen, according to the security videos. The camera also shows penguins piling the asphalt into a mysterious cardinal-red pick-up trade at round 11:33 PM to 2:56 AM.

October 7, 2010

On October 7th, 2010, the air traffic control tower was found to be ransacked, with it's glass entrance door smashed, with the theives leaving tidbits of glass and concrete over the tarmac. The radar systems at the airport were taken out, as well as the computer and radio systems. The glass windows at the top of the tower were also smashed, and the chairs and radio equipment were destroyed.

October 10, 2010

The rest of the runway is gone, leaving only a dirt imprint of it. It is believed that the thieves in this case also emerged from manholes but from a separate location.A CCTV camera recorded this at 1:14 AM to 4:56 AM on that day. The entire taxiway was taken apart, leaving the parking ramps, which were almost destroyed.The thieves also loaded their asphalt and concrete into another red-cardinal truck, and is believed to be the same one utilized on the first night.

October 12, 2010

The terminal building is destroyed by a pipe bomb supposedly placed in the check-in desk of SkyJet Flyer. The particular event occured at 3:45 AM. The glass facade of the terminal was destroyed, as well as the majority of the terminal's possessions. Prior to the detenation of the IED, all computers, printers and electronic devices were stolen from the terrminal. All archives kept at the airport's administrative office were also stolen. As much as 4.3 million Fish in damage occured.

October 13, 2010

SkyJet Flyer operated by National Airways Flight 9277 inbound from South Pole City-Metropolitan International Airport, carrying 35 passengers and 3 crew overran the dirt runway at Mattress Village Airport, as the jet blast zone's automatic stop barriers were removed, the aircraft subsequently fell into a nearby ravine, allowing it to burst into flames upon impact. All passengers ans crew survived the incident upon evacuation of the aircraft. Thereupon after the accident, all flights to Mattress Village were cancelled indefinitely.
