Silkcice Frosnow International Airport (ACAO code: SXC IATA code: ISXC) is the one of the three airports in Southern Ocean City and the only one to take in commercial traffic. It is placed on an artificial island and was funded by Pancakes Incorporated through FlyPancake and SkyJet Airways. It is an hub for Southern Ocean Airlines and FlyPancake.

Background

In 2004 Southern Ocean City signed a partition for an airport of some form to serve the city to the South Pole City however this was initially rejected since the SPC didn't wish to divert funds into building it. However, Icmer, an huge fan of Southern Ocean City, gained permission from the FAAA to fund and build the airport on an artificial island to serve the city along with a general aviation one. The FAAA were perfectly fine with this. Sancho Monte Captio got involved by also funding the project. Construction began in early 2005 and was finished in early 2008. Two airlines, FlyPancake, an airline owned by Icmer and Southern Ocean Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyJet Airways, began flights from the first day. The name was either to be Icmer In Nyc Airport or Sancho Monte Captio Airport. Both rejected it (Icmer named the general aviation one after himself) and the airport was amed Silkcise Frosnow International Airport, after Southern Ocean City's founder.

Facilities

The airport has three terminals; Terminal One, Terminal Two and Cargo Terminal with the majority of traffic departing coming from Terminal One. There are 65 gates in total, of which 30 are located in Terminal One and ten in Cargo Terminal. There are also four hangers and a refueling station per gate. The airport uses the same LINK rail technology in Club Penguin City Airport to connect all three terminals. The airport also has a submarine service to the main city of Southern Ocean City. The airport has a 100 foot high control tower. Aside from that, there are also many commercial businesses set up here, ranging from restauraunts to newsagents.

Terminals

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is an exclusive terminal for Southern Ocean City's two main airlines and their regional subsidaries; flag carrier Southern Ocean Airlines and low cost airline FlyPancake. It is further divided into two concourses; A, B and C with each recieving ten gates each. The terminal is also home to the airport's administration office and the shuttle train station to the port is also present. There is a car park as well. Many local businesses have set up here, along with larger company shops. There are two lounges; OceanBay and the PancakeSkyline lounge.

Terminal 2

Teminal 2 is the terminal for all other international and regional airlines. It isn't divided into concourses as there is no need to do so. There are 31 gates in it. It houses nothing of significance however it does have five airline lounges; there is a JetzLounge, a ConnectLounge, a Fryslounge, a TerraClub and an UnitedLounge.

Cargo Terminal

The Cargo Terminal is the terminal for all cargo flights. It is divided into two concourses; A, for Southern Ocean SkyCargo and FlyPancake Cargo and B, for all other cargo flights. There are 10 gates in it, five in each concourse. All hangers are located here and the airline makes some profit by renting out six warehouses or using them for their own purposes. The headquarters for FlyPancake Southern Ocean Airlines and the Southern Ocean City Aviation Authority are positioned near the warehouse. When the LINK train doesn't stop here, a bus service runs the inter terminal link route. A private lounge operated by the Southern Ocean City Aviation Authority is located here for airport staff and aircrew of all airlines.

Terminal Two

Inter-Terminal Trasnport

The airport uses the LINK train system under use by Club Penguin City International Airport and other airports. It stops at every terminal and concourse. There are two trains in use at this point. Stops at Cargo Terminals are only in the early mornings and evenings, during the rush hour. When the LINK railway doesn't stop at the Cargo Terminal, a bus service for employees only operates from Terminal 1 to the Cargo Terminal, stopping at concourses along the way.

Ground Transport

The airport has access to a near by port, where a ferry service operates to other islands. All routes are, in nautical terms, ultra-short haul. To actually get to the city, passenger submarines and some other transports operated by tion companies unaffiliated to the airport ferry creatures to the city. It operates from the same port as the ferry service. These companies can range from hotel shuttles, 'sea buses' and 'underwater taxis'. In order to get to the port, since it is 5 kilometres away from the main airport, a shuttle train from Terminal 1 goes directly there. Car parking is also availible, although it's capacity is limited, due to the fact very few submarines from the city are able to transport cars.

Accidents and Incidents

On the 2nd July 2009, Southern Ocean Airlines Flight 7804, a Snowing 777-300ER, crashed into the sea, which departed from Triskelle Waterdouse International Airport. Military submarines were at the scene in two minutes due to a military excercise being carried out. Nobody was killed although 11 penguins needed medical treatment due to nearly drowning. It is unknown what caused the incident and it is still under investigation by the Southern Ocean City Aviation Authority (SOCAA) and the FAAA.
