The Warmslates (pronounced warm-saytes), officially referred to as The Democratic Republic of Warmslates (DRW) or sometimes as the Warmslate Republic, is an island nation located under the Ninja Archipelago. Known for its extreme temperatures, it is the warmest known place in the Antarctic, and despite what little rain it gets, is by far the rainiest country in the continent. Warmslates attracts a significant amount of tourists every year, typically those who are more accustomed to very warm climates.

Formally established as a country in late 1992, Warmslates has very diverse geography, and is spread out over multiple islands with varying terrain features including forests, mountains and several beaches. The country's incumbent president is Shannon Perth, the former governor of Denes. The country is a member of the Free Republic Union, which it entered in January of 2009, and is a well respected member amongst its fellow associates.

The economy of Warmslates relies predominantly on trading, and the country is one of the largest suppliers and exporters of tropical and exotic fruits in the Free Republic Union and the entire continent, alongside Tropicalis. Still a relatively new country, the Warmslates is currently home to over 5 million residents of several different species, many of whom prefer the warmth of the region. Some of these species include turtles, Galapagos Penguins, and African Penguins among others.

History

Founding & Discovery (1990s)

In very early 1992, an explorer named Lanaka87 discovered the island of Penguiki after taking his own boat from the southern coast of Waffleland. Seeing as nobody inhabited the island, Lanaka claimed it for himself, and immediately moved there, planning to start his very own country. It is uncertain how exactly Lanaka managed to attract new residents and immigrants, but the common explanation is that residents were drawn to the unusually warm climate, prompting them to move there.

The island saw a fairly decent population increase in just the space of a few months with Lanaka proclaiming himself the mayor of this now growing populace. In time, the small island of Penguiki had accumulated a community of just over 2,000 by Christmas, and declared themselves the Democratic Republic of Warmslates, thus founding a new country. The population continued to steadily grow over the next few years, eventually reaching around 20,000 by 1996. Later that year, Lanaka decided to start another community on the far western side of the island, naming it "West Penguiki". Both the original and the West Penguiki communities continued to see plenty of growth, and in the year 2000, Lanaka elevated the status of West Penguiki from being an unincorporated community to an official territory.

Expansion and Development (2000s)

The Warmslates continued to expand throughout the early 2000s, incorporating more land into their territory. West Penguiki was soon absorbed into the original Penguiki community, while the islands of Sacrenee and Denes were opened to the public and began to see development. The islands of Canncas, Zandomia and Ciderra were soon incorporated into the Warmslates in 2002, 2003, and 2004, respectively. The country also began to see an increase in tourism, with visitors from across the continent flocking to enjoy the hot weather.

Despite all these accomplishments, the now official President of Warmslates, Lanaka, decided to abruptly resign from his position, simultaneously installing a penguin named Mr. Amecu as the new president in his place. While many were shocked and some suspicious, the growth of the Warmslates continued perfectly fine under Amecu's lead, even joining the Free Republic Union in the year 2009.

Economy

Tourism

When the tourism in Warmslates was still a new thing, Warmslate mechanics had built a ship called "Trantlantica". Its' firts puposes were wholesale trade with Club Penguin City, Ross Island, and the others. But then they had realised, a wrong design had been made. Then the idea came. It could carry passengers to the Warmslates! Another ship was built, and named "Wedelinc". They had started to carry passengers. The "Trantlantica" carries passengers on the north-western ocean (West Pengolia, Trans-Antarctica to Denes and Penguiki.) The Wedelinc carries passengers on the north-eastern side (Eastshield, Happyface State, Weddell to Denes and Penguiki.) Tourists mostly visit Penguiki and Denes due to their beautiful landscapes.

Geography

The country is spread across a set of around 25 or so islands, most of which are sandy islands populated by large swathes of tropical jungle and thick forests of palms and other trees. The island of Penguiki is relatively flat and smooth, although its south-eastern corner has a more elevated rocky peak. Denes and Cancas have large jungles located on them, with grasslands and plains surrounding these jungles. Denes, Penguiki and Zandomia all have large sandy white beaches, with Zandomia being surrounded by the nearby shelter islands and Zandomia Minor. Sacrenee, the smallest of the five main islands, is almost completely flat, with a small jungle of trees inhabiting the middle of the island.

Terrain & Topography

Culture

The DRW is a quite young country, but anyway, it is often called "the heaven" because it is so hot there at every month of the year. The most popular symbol of these hot islands is a palm tree and a sunset in the background. Penguins usually work here "two times" - with a middleday break. The beggining is in the morning, end it ends at 11:30 - at this hour is the "siesta". (7:00/8:00 - 11:30) Then, the siesta finishes in the afternoon, and penguins finish their work in the late afternoon. (13:30 - 17:00/17:30) The day is really lazy there, especially in August, when temperatures reach a really high level.

Entertainment

DRW's population always enjoy the weather, and go to the beaches to enjoy the sun. Vacation begin here in the beginning of June (5th - 10th). But penguins have less breaks during the schoolyear. Computer games doesn't sell here really good, as in Dorkugal because in most of trhe houses there is no climatisation, so they look for other ways to "cool down". So the release date is usually the last in the Free Republic Union, and just in Denes and Penguiki. In the television, there is sense for weather forecasts, because the temperature is not always the same, but it is never too low. The Warmslates have a one canal (Warmslates Public Broadcasting 1 - WPB 1 + WPB Denes&Penguiki). Which country needs more? The television isn't watched really often, the radio is more popular.

Cuisine

The Warmslates produce 100% of the Free Republic Union's exotic fruit, and sends it to other parts of the Free Republic Union. That's why it is incredibly rich, and all countries surrounding Warmslates and in the Free Republic Union have very good relations with it. The locals usually don't eat too much because they want to be fit to show theirselves on the beach. They often play sports on the beach. Penguins usually don't eat really much, just a few health snacks. Fast food is enjoyed here, too. But only in small quantitities.

States & Territories

The Warmslates is divided into 5 different states:

  • Penguiki - By far the most populated island, and the original birthplace of the country, as well as the very first island to be colonised.
  • Denes - Comprises of a large southern island covered in dense rainforest and sandy beaches towards its north. It is a popular destination for tourists.
  • Zandomia - Another popular tourist spot besides Denes. It comprises of two main islands, Zandomia and Zandomia Minor, as well as the Shelter Islands, which are often the site of numerous tours and water-based sport events.
  • Sacrenee - By far the smallest state of the Warmslates, it is comprised of two small islands in total, and is located towards the west of the country's boundaries, underneath Penguiki. It is also the least populated island.
  • Canncas - The second least populated island besides Sacrenee. It is covered in vast plains and grasslands, as well as a few coastal beaches.

Demographics

Architecture

In the DRW is always warm, so the houses are usually light and small. The biggest city in the republic is Penguiki, which mostly consists of small houses, tents, and a few shops. The highest point there is the Transitional Station, currently malfunctioned. Denes is the 2nd biggest city, which is also the capital. Buildings there are a bit higher, because the population has less land to build on. Zandomia is the third, and is really barely inhabited in comparison to its' neighbors. Canncas is the fourth, and Sacrenee is the fifth. They are really small, and have really a few inhabitants.

Transportation

Military

The Warmslates National Guard (WNG) is the main source of Warmslates' defense. It is composed of four divisions - the ground forces, navy, air force and special forces. As of 2015, there are 35,000 National Guards, excluding 15,000 special forces soldiers. Margate, thanks to a treaty, owns several military bases around the island. Around 45,000 soldiers from the Margate Armed Forces are stationed here, along with 6,000 special force soldiers. The USA also stationed around 25,000 soldiers here, boosting the island's defense.

Foreign Relations

  • Margate - Excellent - Margate is Warmslates' primary trade partner, overtaking the USA in 2015. It also has a strong influence on the nation, stationing 45,000 of its troops on the island.
  • Tropicalis - Excellent - Tropicalis maintains very friendly relations with the country, and is a frequent buyer of their many tropical fruit exports. Tourists from the country often visit the Warmslates, and also form a large portion of the Warmslates' visitors.
  • United States of Antarctica - Excellent - Being a member of the Free Republic Union, the Warmslates naturally has good relations with the USA. The two often trade and exchange products and goods, and the USA has stationed troops in the Warmslates for the purpose of protection.
  • Freezeland - Great - Being a fellow member of the Free Republic Union, the two countries have very strong ties. The country's regional dialect, W00t, originated in Freezeland and a majority of native Warmslatians are descended from Freezelandian settlers.
