Cream Soda is Fair Game! - This is the article about Rockhopper's delectable drink. For the protesting Benny haters, see CREAM SODA Party.
Cream Soda is a pink-colored soft drink brought in by Rockhopper to Club Penguin Island. It was speculated that Rockhopper found this beverage during one of his travels across the world and brought barrels of Cream Soda for other penguins to enjoy. The drink was so popular, that the mainland and UnitedTerra demanded galleons of Cream Soda for their respective populations. However, a minor drawback is that Cream Soda is extremely volatile and is known to explode if it is shaken up. It's harmless when drunk by other creatures but while in a keg or container it can prove to be a powerful explosive - so powerful that barrels of Cream Soda have been used in mines, warfare, and even archaeology where a penguin may need a barrel to blow up a doorway, crevasse, glaciers, and other obstacles that prevent penguins from carrying out their jobs.
Rockhopper loves the stuff, and has even served as an advertising mascot for Cream Soda. Because of the major popularity of Cream Soda, greenhouses and farms have been planted that strictly grow Soda Roots, which are the main herbs used to create Cream Soda. The Soda Roots are imported from Rockhopper Island, which grow in the dense forests and some grow near the beach.
History
It was said that the earliest version of cream soda was invented 4000 years ago by King Bacchus of Snowprus out of grape juice and yeast, although originally, cream soda was a delicacy enjoyed in Gentoo penguins and other colonies. Originating in the sixth century and rediscovered by Joshua Cream in 1789, it was usually brewed in homes using herbs and spices. Rockhopper eventually learnt of the delicacy, in which he called grog, that he would usually drink whenever The Migrator ran out of drinks and supplies. He would collect the herbs and spices mixed with salt water, according to the recipe of the Gentoos, and create a foul but edible drink.
When he reached Club Penguin in the late 90s, he introduced the beverage to the Club at the Coffee Shop. Disliking the taste, they decided to enhance the flavour by removing the saltwater. The end result was popular and many people drank it. However, Rockhopper found Rhopper Berries at Rockhopper Island in 2000, which he added to his cream soda and drank in an instant. He pitched the idea to the Coffee Shop of adding the berries, and the new recipe gained even more popularity. The recipe was sold to the Coffee Shop, which in turn sold it to the Cream Soda Factory and select other suppliers. The first week saw more than a hundred thousand barrels of cream soda mass-produced and sold.
Gentoo Island, the curator of the original cream soda, adopted the new recipe and became the official capital of production of Cream Soda.
Recipe
Original
The original version by the Gentoo tribe went by this:
- x2 Soda Root
- Saltwater
- 100g Cane Sugar
- 1/2 jug of mixed spices
- Two tablespoons of pachylum
- Tablespoon of saga root
- Teaspoon of finely chopped up ginger
- Pinch of samone
Joshua Cream's version differed slightly, with the addition of caffeine and removal of pachylum.
Current
The most common recipe used nowadays is the latest incarnation, that includes Rhopper Berries found at Rockhopper Island.
- x1 Soda Root
- 375ml Purified Water
- 50g Cane Sugar
- 50g Caffeine
- 10ml Pink Food Coloring (optional; used in factories)
- 1/2 jug of Rhopper Berries
There have been several variations to the recipe, though. A non-caffeine version exists in which they replace caffeine with saga root and finely chopped up ginger.
Gentoo penguins have a variation of the new recipe that aligns with their original one:
- x2 Soda Root
- 600ml Purified Water
- 100ml Salt Water
- 75g Cane Sugar
- 1/3 jug of mixed spices
- Two tablespoons of pachylum
- Tablespoon of saga root
- Teaspoon of finely chopped up ginger
- Pinch of samone
- Collection of alkali herbs (to neutralise solution)
Mcdonalds City Version
This is actually the non-caffianted version.
- 2x Soda Root
- 750ml Purified Water
- 15ml Cane Sugar
- 5x Saga Root
- 10x finely chopped ginger (optional)
- 10x finely crushed giner
- 1/2 jug of the following:
- 50g Cherries
- 34g Rhomper Berries
- 45g Watermelon
- 35 and 1/3 g Orange
The Caffeinated version has 30mg of caffeine in it.
Procedure
- Finely chop the Soda Root, crushing it into fine pieces.
- Place the Soda Root, Cane Sugar, and Caffeine in a bowl. Stir into a thick mixture.
- Pour the mixture in a pan, allowing it to simmer and gain flavor. Once simmered, blanch the mixture by pouring it on a bowl on top of a bowl with ice.
- Once cooled, add the water and food coloring, stir.
- Place in the fridge to cool down.
Stock Market
The Stock Market is mostly affected by the cargo Rockhopper exports from Rockhopper Island. The quantity of Soda Roots depends on the weather due to Rockhopper requiring to sail all the way out to his island and then back to Club Penguin. If there's stormy weather, Rockhopper ends up losing cargo because the waves become more fierce during a storm and knock his ship about, causing some crates to fall into the ocean.
