Antarctica is the continent on which all penguins and associated creatures inhabit. It consists of a complex set of dozens of countries, states and islands that have undergone numerous changes over hundreds of years. There is Mainland Antarctica, the majority of which serves as the land of the United States of Antarctica. Numerous offshore lands also exist in addition to the mainland, such as the lands of UnitedTerra, Ninja Archipelago and Asiapelago.
Description
Antarctica is a large continent made of ice and smaller continents. It's located at Earth's South Pole, and its average temperature is −129 °F. However penguins and puffles have called Antarctica home for centuries, and have built countries and cities there. The average size is 5.4 million sq mi, but during summer ice melts which shortens the continent. It had become home of many countries and states over a period of 4000 years. Humans cannot survive the cold temperatures very long, so no permanent establishment has been created (thank goodness!).
The most powerful and prominent nation on the continent is the United States of Antarctica. Originally, Freezeland came after, however over the recent decade countries such as UnitedTerra, Shops Island and countries of the Swiss Empire have surpassed it in all fields.
History

Antiquity
Prior to 2000 BC, Antarctica and it's surrounding islands was completely uninhabited except for a few crabs and leopard seals on its coasts. All penguins have originated from the islands of Valnor, while Puffles came from the Falkland Islands. Sigurd and Bacchus were two brothers who were the sons of a Valnorian tribe King, and due to a war, they fled with their wives on a large boat into the unknown sea. They first encountered the Falkland Islands, where they met and befriended Puffles. They soon embarked into the unknown again, this time with puffles. Sigurd and Bacchus discovered the island of Snowprus, where Bacchus decided to settle. Sigurd wished to continue his journey, thus he embarked further south until he reached the Antarctic Mainland where the city of Frostize is located today. Sigurd traveled inland and settled down with his wife in a small valley in what is now Trans-Antarctica. Sigurd and Bacchus's children were mutated and were not born as High Penguins as their fathers and mothers were. Hence, the non-High Penguin species began to multiply and they quickly spread across Antarctica, the Ninja Archipelago, the Yowien Sea, and the Asiapelago.
The early Antarctic mainland was at first dominated by various scattered tribes of penguins and puffles that lived in small confederations of villages, several large farming city states, or groups of nomadic traders. Sigurd had established a city known as Asgard that became the capital for an empire of Viking Penguins that dominated Antarctica's west coast, while Antarctica's east coast were dominated by small but powerful Snowpriot city state colonies. Khanz Penguins, descendants of Sigurd, claimed the then lush territory of Pengolia that was located near the Land of Asgard. As Snowprus and Asgard grew more powerful, their armies grew larger and stronger. The Vikings and Snowpriots began to invade the various scattered tribes on the mainland and they easily crushed them. By the time the Snowpriots and the Vikings met, conquests ceased and trade was heavily promoted.
By then, Sigurd and Bacchus were completely forgotten as individuals in Valnor, and their disappearance led to many tales of High Penguin folklore. However, a High Penguin named Kuruk believed that Sigurd and Bacchus were real, and he believed that they had discovered a new land that they settled. In 1000 BC, Kuruk and a fleet of High Penguin ships set sail to the south, and they landed on the Viking Penguin portion of modern Freezeland. The Vikings were not happy about their presence, and the High Penguins viewed the Vikings as savages. The High Penguins acted violently and conquered all of modern day Freezeland from the Vikings and Snowpriots. The native Antarctican nations formed an alliance and attempted to oust the High Penguins but failed because they turned their backs on each other. The High Penguins quickly multiplied and eventually conquered all of Antarctica, except for the city of Asgard, which was spared due to a severe snowstorm that followed by a thunderstorm, which drove the High Penguin army away.
The High Penguins established the Land of Lord Guin, which ruled all of Antarctica. It was dominated by High Penguins and the regular Penguins became the lower levels of this early society, yet their ruler was an Emperor Penguin who had won the trust of the High Penguins. However, Lord Guin was corrupt and was deemed a dictator. Soon High Penguins joined the regular penguins in rebellion, and the Land of Lord Guin fell in 500 BC. The Vikings, Khanz, and Snowpriots re-established their empires, and a new middle empire, the Babbelonian Empire, was formed. The Babbelonians enslaved the High Penguins and forced them to do many laborious things, like farming and construction.
The Babbelonians were staunch enemies with the Snowpriots, and they went to war. According to the ancient Snowpriot text, Epic of Pufficus, the Snowpriots defeated and conquered the Babbelonians in 100 BC. The weakening of Snowprus's army allowed the rise of the culturally similar Penguin Empire to form. The Penguin Empire's army violently grew as they siezed all of Snowprus's colonies and many islands in the Ninja Archipelago. The Penguin Empire conquered much of Asgard and expelled the Vikings to the Antarctic Peninsula. The Penguin Empire did not bother to invade the peninsula, Pengolia, and the remaining tribes of free High Penguins. The Penguin Empire promoted more trade as they continued to use High Penguins as slaves to create many extensive roads and aqueducts across the whole empire. Latin became the official language of the empire.
The Penguin Empire began to disintegrate in the 400's AD. They experienced several Peasant and Slave uprisings, foreign invasions, and a series of corrupt and cruel emperors. In 450, the Penguin Empire collapsed from the invasions from the Vikings, Khanz, and High Penguin Clans and Slaves. The fall of the empire caused a long period of political turmoil.
Middle Ages
The Barbarian takeover of Antarctica after the fall of the Penguin Empire led to the destruction of many cities. Many penguins and Puffles began to sought help from wealthy High Penguins, who built several castles to protect themselves from Viking and Khanz raiders. The helpless regular penguins and puffles became serfs bounded to the land of the High Penguin nobles. Meanwhile, the Vikings settled down and established the Kingdom of Damelaw. The Pengolians settled down as well. The Snowpriots, now liberated from Penguin Empire rule, tried again to reconquer Antarctica. However, one of the Generals betrayed King Bacchus, and the General declared the Frozantium Empire, hoping to recive a new Penguin Empire. However, Frozantium rivaled with the city state of Frostize, who attacked the Empire with crusader knights from the Ninja Archipelago in the 700's.
In 742, the groups of High Penguin manor estates formed a single country known as the High Penguin Confederacy. The Nobles agreed to establish a King, though at first he had not as much power as the nobility. High Penguin manors began raising an army of knights that would soon outnumber Frozantium's knights. A specific group of Khanz Penguins known as Cell-Jerks invaded and sacked Frozantium for good two years earlier, which allowed the High Penguin Confederacy to storm the region and it doubled their size. The High Penguin Confederacy resolved to unify all of Antarctica under their control, thus they invaded Damelaw in 743. Pengolia was the last country left on the Antarctic Peninsula, but it was also subject to invasion in 746. Five years later, the High Penguin Confederacy attempted to invade the Ninja Archipelago, but failed due to ill weather.
The High Penguin Confederacy's early centuries saw the growth of a few small towns of free High Penguins, Khanz, and Vikings, but there were few. Cities stayed dormant as the nobility of the countryside wielded all the power. By the 1000's, some of the few towns along the coast commenced trade with the Ninja Archipelago and Asiapelago, which helped to spread new ideas and products between the two. Several Ligurian ships frequently visited the Antarctic Mainland to purchase Asiapelago spices.
In the 1330's, a terrible Plague started in the Asiapelago island of Zhou. Through Khanz traders, the disease was spread to the Antarctic Mainland in 1342. Ligurian traders then brought the disease to the Ninja Archipelago in 1347. By the 1350's, all of Antarctica had been affected by the Plague. The plague devastated everywhere it went; in the High Penguin Confederacy, the creatures who died the most were the peasants of the manors because they lived in unsanitary conditions. The nobility were also affected, but their death toll was not as severe. With the enormous amounts of deaths, Manors had to release all the remaining peasants because of the lack of able bodied workers and the demand for higher wages. Freed serfs found themselves moving into towns and cities, though they remained poor. Of all racial groups, the High Penguins revived the fastest, and they quickly dominated over regular penguins in population and society.
Renaissance
The abolishment of the Manor estates in the High Penguin Confederacy led to the weakening of the nobility and the rise of the Monarch. The King of the High Penguin Confederacy gained the loyalty of his citizens and military as he gave the continent a sense of national pride. With the abolishment of the manor system, the former serfs were exposed to new ideas and trades. After several centuries of darkness, a decent middle class was emerging, especially when the printing press was invented, which allowed for books to be cheaper, leading to a high rate of literacy.
Due to the reconquest of the Ninja Archipelagoan islands of Castilla and Sicilia, Ninja Archipelagoans were re-introduced to the ideas and writings of the ancient Snowpriot and Penguin Empire's philosophers that were preserved by the Ow-Ondowis Kingdom that had previously ruled Castilla. The Re-discovery of such knowledge was taken to Liguria, where the Renaissance was born. Art and science flourished and spread across the Ninja Archipelago to the Antarctic Mainland. During this time period, many Universities and colleges were established.
The Renaissance also saw the end of Knights. The Ligurian merchants of the 1300's introduced Gunpowder, an innocent invention used by the Zhouese for firework making. Penguins learned to manipulate the substance so that it could shoot objects. Its invention made Knights' armor obsolete. When Puffle'and and Frankterre took part in the Hundred Months War, cannons were introduced, and many fotress walls were destroyed. Knights soon became nothing but Nobility titles, and armies transitioned to trained common foot soldiers across the Antarctic.
On the island of Lisboagal, expeditions were established to explore the Antarctic seas, because the Ninja Archipelago wanted to trade with the Asiapelago directly without having the HPC as a middleman. This led to the Lisboaguese's monopoly on the Asiapelago's trade, which affected Mainland Antarctica. Castilla, Batavia, Frankterre, and Puffle'and quickly joined in the monopoly as they began their conquest of other small islands. The High Penguin Confederacy soon feared that the Ninja Archipelago would try to conquer them, hence they strenghtened their army and joined the race for Colonial dominance.
Early-Modern Period
With the competition against the Ninja Archipelago rising, Mainland Antarctica began to establish many large and profitable farms, Iron, Copper, and Gold mines, and textile mills. In the 1800's, the High Penguin Confederacy experienced an Industrial Revolution. Large factories emerged, new more sophisticated technology was created, and weaponry was improved. The train was invented and it quickly transported goods from one portion of the continent to the next. Machines were introduced to make Factory work faster, and in the late 1800's, cars were invented so that the commoners could be transported farther and faster than before. All these new inventions spread across the whole Antarctic and the surrounding islands.
The 1700's experienced the revival of democratic thought. Several individuals from the High Penguin Confederacy, Puffle'and, and Frankterre questioned the power of their monarchs, and they set up many political ideas that was meant to reform the Monarchy's politics. The 1800's did see the rise of more influence of Parliament in both the High Penguin Confederacy and Puffle'and. Free speech and the freedom of the press were also granted to their citizens. Though Politics were gradually improving, the 19th century was still home to a lot of poverty in the Ninja Archipelago, and many of them immigrated to the HPC; the most prominent group were Penguins from Puffle'and, who were being persecuted by the Puffle majority because of their race.
20th Century
The 20th Century was the most turbulent century in Antarctic history. The High Penguin Confederacy continued to thrive as it entered the 20th Century, with previous inventions such as the car and telephone become more mainstream. The Confederacy's last invention was the airplane, which was soon used to transport cargo and passengers farther and faster than both car, train, or boat. Little did they know of what the invention would become. The High Penguin Confederacy collapsed in 1913, when a Khanz penguin named Whoot Smackler Whoot couped the King and claimed himself as the ruler. He hated High Penguins and wanted to promote the power of regular penguins that had been non-existant for over a millenium. He established the country of Khanzem and claimed the whole continent, but some did not like him. A portion of Antarctica immediately seperated from the Khanz, known as the Grand Ol' Land. The Grand Ol' Land was still viewed as the true High Penguin Confederacy by the High Penguins, despite Whoot's propaganda. Whoot quickly commenced his plan of capturing all the High Penguins in the land and he began to send them to brutal prison camps. Whoot made alliances with Liguria, Alemania, and Japaland when the Grand Ol' Land, Puffle'and, Calada, and The Five Senseis declared war on them. Antarctica was caught in a five year long war that took place in every region of Antarctica and its islands. It was one of the worst wars in Antarctic history because of the introduction of the icebullet machine gun, airplane warfare, tanks, and massive deletion bombs. The Khanzem War ended in 1918, when the Allies surrounded Whoot's bunker and forced him to surrender.
The Allies agreed to cede a portion of former Khanzem to Rusca, while the rest became the Snowman Empire. The Snowman Empire was a retro nation, and it collapsed in due to invasions from "Barbarians" (Mainly Ruscan soldiers, early STINC, and Viking Penguins from the Grand Ol' Land.) The Grand Ol' Land and Poleland then proposed to reunify Antarctica under a new political System. Rusca agreed, and they withdrew from Antarctica. The Continent was then reunified into "Antarctica" (Now known as Olde Antarctica). Antarctica was to be ruled by four kingdoms that would be represented in the South Pole Summit, the highest power in the land.
Olde Antarctica lasted until 1990, when a band of radical communists known as STINC rallied the communist countries of Rusca, Zhou, and North Alemania against Olde Antarctica. Using advanced technology in warfare, Olde Antarctica was crushed and was replaced by the country STINC-zachal, which only lasted for a few months before Rusca had a revolution that ousted the Communist government and was replaced by a democratic republic. With the lack of Rusca's support, STINC fell when Puffle'and and Calada conquered the whole mainland. The Puffish executed and hunted down anyone who was involved in STINC. Puffle'and claimed Antarctica as its own and was ruled as under a Colonial system. King Manley stepped down and allowed Lord Greg, a penguin, to be King because of his successful military campaigns. King Greg organized Colonial Antarctica by arraning penguins to live in colonies based on their racial makeup, while Puffles had the liberty to live wherever they wanted.
However, King Greg began to do things that angered several penguins and puffles on the mainland and in Puffle'and. King Greg moved his palace from Snowdon to the rural King George's Island, much to the annoyment of Parliament. Furthermore, he passed several heavy taxes on coffee, which mainly was imported from Castilla's colonies. King Greg hated Castilla because he saw them as competition. However, Greg also stated taxing heavily on domestic products such as fish and ice because he needed more money to pay for several building projects that he wanted to start. King Greg's careless actions prompted many penguins to rebel against their government. Castilla and Frankterre supplied the Revolutionaries with weapons and ammunition against the Puffish. The War ended when King George's Island was stormed and the King was thrown in a broom closet and set out to sea, permanently ending Colonial Antarctican rule.
Thus, the United States of Antarctica was formed in 2000. A year later, large uninhabited land off the coast was discovered and became the foundation of UnitedTerra, officially becoming a country in 2002.
21st Century
The USA grew powerful as it was declared a Krytocracy. Billybob became its first president. Freezeland emerged as an independent nation of High Penguins and did not want to become part of the USA. Many of the Loyalists of the Colonial Antarctic rule fled from the USA and Freezeland to Puffle'and and North Alemania. However, the majority of them immigrated to a new country known as Snowzerland, where their leader, Swiss Ninja, offered bountiful plots of land. Sadly, the didn't know that Swiss Ninja would turn the island into a military dictatorship. In the long run, most immigrants from Colonial Antarctica, Alemania, and Frankterre ended up living in the cities. Snowzerland quietly grew as the USA continued to develop. During the War of 2002, the USA attempted to conquer Freezeland. Doing so led to the formation of the Free Republic Union, and anti USA feeling grew in some countries. In 2003, Pengolia seceded from the USA, only to be re-annexed in 2003. In 2009, Pengolia split into a Communist East and a Khan ruled West.
During all this, UnitedTerra was on the rise. By 2005, the amount of penguins in the UTR increased massively, with hundreds of thousands of penguins travelling from Club Penguin and other parts of the USA. It eventually became the first country that could compete with the USA on a superior level after the success with capitalising on the gap within the automobile industry in Antarctica. UnitedTerra's manufacturing of mobeels and turbo bikes became the backbone of their growing economy.
2010 is remembered for being the year that started the "Neo-Imperalism Era". It was the year that Snowzerland allied with Viking Nationalists and Darktan's Army against the USA during the Great Snowzerland War I. Though Snowzerland lost, the Viking Empire gained its independance in what used to be part of the Antarctic Peninsula state. The USA also became involved with the remainder of the Great Snowzerland Wars and proved victorious every time. In 2011, the Snoss waged war on the Castillans, known as the Snoss-Castillan War, which involved the competition to monopolize several islands around Antarctica.

Penguins have been establishing countries since Year Zero, and even before. In the past penguins, puffles, and terns would find a nation and make themselves a king. Over 70% of Past countries were monarchies, but overtime more democratic governments were founded. Democracy was first introduced in the city state colonies of Snowprus in what is now Eastshield, even though empires and monarchies were dominant at the time.
In the 20th century, a few Communist nations rose to power after Rusca's Communist revolution in the 1910's, and several nations adopted communism until the fall of Communist Rusca in 1990, though East Pengolia and North Joseon are exceptions. In 2000, the USA was formed. It's democratic government became popular across the Antarctic, though many nations still resolved to keep their monarchies under a special constitution.
Shielding
The entire continent, UnitedTerra and surrounding islands are sealed inside a pocket of Wutt Energy. This shield isolates outside forces (eg. large explosions) and communications (but objects originating from inside the bubble are not affected obviously) but does not block the entry/exit of physical objects and heat transfers. This shield is invisible to the naked eye.
Population of Penguins in Antarctica
The population of penguins in Antarctica has been studied ever since middle High Penguin Confederacy. By the end of Olde Antarctica, it has been discovered that during that time, over 1,501,002,075 lived on Antarctica during that time (however, every second 4 new penguins do hatch).
The population is still calculated today. It has been discovered that right now there are over more then 3,500,000,000 penguins living in Antarctica. That's alot of penguins! It has also been discovered that the USA is the most populated country.
